Add FIT Files from Google Drive
If your FIT files are stored in Google Drive, you can bring them into FitKeep without downloading them to your computer first. You connect Google Drive once, then pick the individual .fit files you want to add.
What FitKeep can and cannot see
FitKeep asks Google for the narrowest Drive permission available. It can only ever read the specific files you pick in the file picker. It cannot list your folders, browse the rest of your Drive, or see files you have not selected. Picking a folder does not give FitKeep access to what is inside it, you always choose the files themselves.
Step 1: Connect Google Drive
- Open the Upload page, or go to Settings → Integrations
- Find Google Drive and select Connect to Google Drive
- Sign in to Google if prompted and approve the request
- You are returned to FitKeep, and Google Drive now shows as a connected integration
Step 2: Pick your files
- Select Select files (or Add more files if you have used it before) to open the Google file picker
- Browse to the folder that holds your FIT files
- Select one or more
.fitfiles. You can multi-select - Confirm the selection
FitKeep adds the picked files in the background, one at a time, and shows progress as it goes. When it finishes, the new activities appear in your activity list just like a manual upload. You can leave the page while this runs.
Adding more files later
Google Drive is not watched continuously, so new activities in Drive are not added on their own. When you have more to bring over:
- Open the Upload page or your Google Drive integration in Settings → Integrations
- Select Add more files
- Pick the new files
The picker reopens at the last folder you used. Files you picked before stay connected, so you only ever need to select the new ones.
What gets skipped
FitKeep quietly skips a picked file when:
- It is already in your account. Matching is done on file contents, so re-picking a file you already added is safe
- It is in the Google Drive trash
- It is not a FIT file, for example a Google Doc or Sheet
If adding a file fails because of a temporary error, FitKeep retries it automatically on the next pass. The current status, the number of files added from Drive, and any errors are shown on the Google Drive integration in Settings → Integrations.
Disconnecting
Open Settings → Integrations, select Google Drive, and disconnect. FitKeep clears your saved file selection and revokes its access with Google. Activities that were already added stay in FitKeep.
